Mercedes Benz M 100 engines

At Niemöller, we specialise in the sale of Mercedes Benz classic car spare parts. In our online shop, for example, you can order spare parts for the M 100 engine.

The M 100 is the first Mercedes personal car with an eight-cylinder engine which was produced after the war. The engine was used in the 1960s and 70s in the Mercedes 600 and in the Mercedes 450 SEL 6.9.

The M 100 is a water-cooled petrol engine with a camshaft for each cylinder bed and two valves per cylinder. The engine block itself consists of grey cast iron and the cylinder heads are produced from die cast aluminium. With an engine displacement of 6332 cm³ and 1984 kW, the M 100 was installed into the Mercedes 600. In 1975, the engine was available with more engine displacement (6834 cm³) and more output in the model 450 SEL 6.9.

When the Mercedes 600 with 250 HP was brought onto the market, it pushed the English limousines from Rolls Royce into second place in terms of engine output. The Mercedes 600 supposedly trumped everything which had gone before. In production, there was a lot of manual labour which meant a correspondingly long construction time. The Mercedes 600 was produced without regard for financial means. The M 100 in this car didn’t just have to make 2475 kg or 2710 kg move; it also had to drive auxiliary aggregates such as water pumps, ventilators with thermostatically controlled coupling and alternators.

Today, the Mercedes 600 with the M 100 engine is one of the most popular classic cars from Mercedes. In our online shop, you can order the right M 100 spare parts for the Mercedes 600 (W 100). From the engine case to the injection pump right up to the power transmission elements, you can find the right spare part for your Mercedes Benz classic car quickly and easily in the shop.
